Milima ya Uluguru-Morogoro ASILIMIA 90 ya wananchi katika Halmashauri ya wilaya ya Morogoro ni wakulima na wamekuwa wanakitumia kilimo kujiendeleza kiuchumi, wao na halmashauri hiyo. Kwa mujibu wa Sensa ya Watu na Makazi ya Mwaka 2012 halmashauri hiyo inakadiriwa kuwa na watu 286,248. Kilimo cha mazao ya chakula na biashara licha ya kuwanufaisha wakulima pia ni chanzo cha makusanyo ya mapato katika Halmashauri ya Wilaya ya Morogoro . Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa Halmashauri hiyo, Yona Mark, anasema, ardhi katika halmashauri hiyo imegawanyika kiuzalishaji kwa mazao ya chakula, matunda na kibiashara. Anasema kwamba halmashauri hiyo ina ukubwa wa eneo la kilometa za mraba 11,925.75 ambazo ni sawa na hekta 1,192,575 na kwamba, eneo linalofaa kwa kilimo ni hekta 447,000. Mark anataja eneo linalotumika kwa uzalishaji kwa kilimo na wakulima wadogo ni hekta 78,794.96 na jumla ya mashamba 63 yana hati miliki. Tumeric - Post-Harvest Management Aspects

1.1 Harvest Turmeric readiness for harvest is indicated by the drying of the plant and stem, approximately 7 to 10 months after planting, depending on cultivar, soil and growing conditions. The rhizome bunches are carefully dug out manually with a spade, or the soil is first loosen with a small digger, and clumps manually lifted. It is better to cut the leaves before lifting the rhizomes. Rhizomes are cleaned from adhering soil by soaking in water, and long roots are removed as well as leaf scales. Rhizomes are then further cured and processed, or stored for the next year's planting. Rhizomes for seed purposes must be stored in well-ventilated rooms to minimize rot, but covered with the plant dry leaves to prevent dehydration. They can also be stored in pits covered with sawdust, sand, or panal ( Glycosmis pentaphylla ) leaves that may act as insect repellent. Utangulizi Jina la kitalaam ni Curcuma domestica au Curcuma longa na kwa kiingereza ni turmeric . Zao hili asili yake ni Mashariki ya Mbali, na linalimwa zaidi katika mkoa wa Tanga, Kagera, Kilimanjaro, Morogoro na Zanzibar.  Binzari hutumika kwa mapishi ya nyama, samaki na mapishi mengine kwa kuweka rangi yake ya njano. Hutumika zaidi na nchi za mashariki kama India; nchi za Ulaya hutumia kidogo sana.
